By using Map of Dishes you agree to these terms. The Map of Dishes project operates the site.
Information only
The dishes, pronunciations and histories are general information written in good faith from the sources listed under each dish. Food history is full of competing claims and legends, and we may be wrong; please check the sources before relying on a detail. Nothing here is dietary or health advice.
Photos and recordings
Photos and pronunciation recordings belong to their credited authors and are used under the free licences shown next to them (for example Creative Commons). If you reuse them, follow those licences and credit the authors, not us. Our own text is © the Map of Dishes project.
Accounts
Accounts are free and for people aged 16 and over. Keep your sign-in to yourself. You can stop using your account and ask us to delete it at any time.
Ratings and reviews
Reviews must be about the dish and your own experience of eating it. Do not post ads or links, insults, hate, sexual content, other people’s personal information, or text you copied from elsewhere. You keep the rights to what you write and let us show it on Map of Dishes, including in each dish’s average and in excerpts, for as long as it stays posted. We may hide or remove reviews that break these rules and stop an account from posting. To report a review, use Report under it or write to contact@mapofdishes.com.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse the site, interfere with its operation, create accounts or ratings in bulk to move averages, or scrape it in a way that degrades service for others.
Links and third parties
The site links to third-party sites such as Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices.
Liability
The site is provided free and as is, without warranties. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from its use. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law where you live.
Copyright complaints
If you believe something here infringes your copyright, email contact@mapofdishes.com with the item, the page link, your contact details and a statement that you own the rights. We remove disputed material promptly while we look into it.
